On The Strand: September

On The Strand: September

Hi, it’s Tony, Founder & Chief Cheerleader of Hammitt. On the Strand is where I share ideas and inspiration that cross my mind. Let’s take a walk together.

Seen on The Strand

I love watching beach volleyball here in Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach. Our little area has produced five Olympic medalists since it became an Olympic sport in 1996. April Ross and Alix Klineman just scored gold in Tokyo. Congratulations!!!

Inspired on the Strand

Prior to the 2013 preseason, a large group of players with the Seattle Seahawks came to Hermosa Beach to work out for two weeks. There were no coaches. They trained with Troll at The Yard, one of our local gyms. When professional athletes love where you live and work, you know you’re in the right place. They won their first Super Bowl that year.

I’m thrilled to share that we launched a new syndicated weekly column called Cheerology: A Toast to Life. It’s currently printed in The OC Register and The Beach Reporter. More syndicates are in the near future!

Thought on The Strand

My friend Adi lives in Marina del Rey and we started trading sunset pictures almost every day when the pandemic started. Over 500 sunsets and still going strong! It’s a daily dose of happiness that reminds us how beautiful life is. Find your sunset, soak up that joy, and enjoy every day, no matter what.

Asked on the Strand

Did you know that the next James Bond could be your Chief Cheerleader Tony Drockton? I can’t share any more than that right now, but I know you’re going to love it! (Ooo, cliffhanger!)

Shakin’, not stirred,

Tony Bond
