We are seeking a full-time Senior Accountant to work on-site at our Hermosa Beach headquarter office.The Senior Accountant will be responsible for all financial accounting functions, managing journal entries, closing procedures and financial reporting.  The position will assume full ownership of balance sheet account reconciliations, financial closing activities and other analyses to support and execute our financial close process for the business.  The candidate for the Senior Accountant position must have a clear understanding of accounting guidance and processes.  The ideal person for this role is driven, self-motivated, and analytical, who can apply and develop their skills in a dynamic, exciting culture.  
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for timely month-end close.  Close responsibilities will include:
- Prepare bank account reconciliations
- Book all journal entries
- Calculate and book all accruals and prepaids
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations, update and maintain rollforwards and other supporting schedules for all relevant balance sheet accounts
- Review monthly financials to ensure accuracy, investigate and understand significant variances to budget and historical results
- Prepare and adhere to month end close checklist and calendar
    Billing, Collections and Accounts Receivable
    - Invoice all customers
    - Resolve billing issues
    - Properly apply payments and other credits to invoices; apply outstanding credits to invoices in accordance with company policy
    - Approve returns in accordance with company policy; issue credit memos as appropriate
    - Collect outstanding balances from customers, send delinquent customers to collection agencies as appropriate
    - Develop methodology and maintain an appropriate bad debt reserve
    Accounts Payable
    - Ensure outstanding invoices are paid in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy.  Apply payments to invoices appropriately.
    - Accurately and completely book all approved invoices and other expense transactions
    - Coordinate with vendors on payments.  Follow-up with vendors on outstanding issues related to either invoices or payments.  Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment timing, etc.
    - Issue 1099s
    - Onboard all new employees, verify all necessary documentation, maintain I-9s, W-4s and other new hire documents
    - Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, in accordance with company policy and state and federal employment and labor law
    - Ensure proper withholdings and reporting (local, state and federal)
    - Book payroll to the GL each month
    - Book all necessary payroll related accruals including unpaid but earned payroll, commissions, bonuses, etc.
    - Support annual workers comp audits
    Banking, Insurance
    - Support reporting needs of creditors and other institutions
    - Support filings of annual federal and state income tax returns and any necessary tax related reporting 
    - Report and pay sales taxes in all appropriate jurisdictions
    - Support outside audit, review and/or compilation efforts as necessary
    - Maintain any supporting schedules necessary to facilitate annual audit or review process
    - Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
    - Maintain the chart of accounts and orderly accounting system
    - Maintain insurance records and files
    - Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions

      Education and Experience:

      - BA in accounting or a related field
      - 2-5 years of relevant work experience
      - CPA not necessary, but preferred
      - Must be proficient in NetSuite or similar accounting systems

      Skills and Abilities:

      - Strong understanding of GAAP and the ability to clearly document and communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to finance and non-finance personnel

      - Skilled in Microsoft office

      - Highly effective communication skills (verbal and written)

      - Highly organized and ability to prioritize, manage multiple deadlines and work in a team environment with limited supervision
