Daily Leather TLC
How to Keep Your Hammitt Looking Fresh
Daily use naturally exposes your leather bag to dust, dirt, and general wear. Regular maintenance can help extend its life and preserve its appearance. Gentle care prevents buildup that may cause premature aging or damage to the material.
Pro Tip: Avoid using water—especially on suede finishes as it can cause damage.

Stains: What to Do in a Pinch
Life happens—sometimes spills or marks come with it. If your leather bag comes into contact with grease or ink, avoid rubbing the area, as this can cause further damage. When it comes to stubborn stains or delicate materials like suede, it's best to consult a leather care professional to ensure proper treatment and preserve the quality of your item.
Note: If you're working with suede, skip the DIY. A specialist will always give you the safest results.

Protecting Your Hammitt
Leather is sensitive to elements like sunlight, moisture, and spills, which can affect its appearance over time.
Using a protective product designed for leather can help extend its life. Before applying any treatment, always ensure the surface is clean and follow the instructions provided by the product manufacturer for best results.

Condition & Maintain for a Lifetime
Even high-quality leather benefits from occasional conditioning to maintain its softness and prevent drying or cracking.
Use a leather-friendly conditioner to help preserve the material’s natural look and feel. Apply as needed—typically every 6 to 12 months—or more frequently if the leather shows signs of dryness or fading. For best results, choose products that are free from harsh chemicals to protect the texture and finish.

Store Like a Pro
Keep it upright in a cool, dry space—away from direct sunlight and high heat.
- Keep it upright in a cool, dry space—away from direct sunlight and high heat.
- Gently stuff it with white tissue paper to maintain its shape.
- Store it inside the original Hammitt dust bag (we send one with every purchase!).
Skip plastic or airtight containers—your leather needs to breathe.
Avoid This: Hanging your bag can stretch the handles. Lay it flat or upright to keep the silhouette intact.

Fixing the Little Things
Scuffs, Scratches & Wear
Minor scuffs and scratches are a natural part of a leather item's life and can often be reduced with gentle care. For more noticeable marks or surface wear, consider using a leather-friendly polish that matches the color and finish.
For More Significant Damage
When it comes to deeper abrasions or hardware issues, it's best to consult a professional leather repair specialist. Expert care can help restore and extend the life of your leather item.

PEBBLED LEATHER
Our signature texture, this finished leather has a hint of shine - and stays soft even with age.
Spray with protectant before your first outing, avoid contact with dark washes and denim dye, and store in a dust bag for safekeeping. Apply designated cleaners sparingly and according to instruction for added shine and softness.
We recommend reviving this leather with our Leather Laundry Conditioning Balm. Apply a small amount of our signature balm onto a lint-free cloth, then rub in a circular motion until fully coated. This balm will help to both clean and soften your pebbled leather.

SUEDE
The suede is deliciously soft - and we're here to help you keep it that way! We handpick suede that is generally water resistant.
If your bag gets extremely wet, we strongly suggest drying it away from a heater, very slowly. Please air dry the bag and do not use heat. Once dry, brush your suede to lift fibers again. This will bring its soft hand feel back to life!
Take special caution after applying lotion, sunscreen or other skincare. We recommend washing your hands before carrying your bag!Â
